We are not a staffing agency — we employ our people directly, provide all required equipment and office infrastructure, and remain actively involved in supporting our team day to day.
We are looking for a detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor or Estimator — or a Mechanical/Structural Engineer with hands-on estimating experience — to join our Greendale, Harare office. You will be a SavannahPro employee, working from our office, fully supported by our team, and integrated into the estimating workflow of our major US roofing client.
Position Summary
The core mission of this role is speed and accuracy: producing competitive, complete estimates quickly, with a solid understanding of building structure and roofing systems so scope is correct from the start. This is an estimation and quantity surveying role — not a stamped design or supervisory role. All engineering stamps are provided by the client's US-based engineering partners.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs from architectural, structural, and client-supplied drawings for building and roofing projects.
• Estimate scope across primary and secondary framing, roof and wall panels, trim, flashing, fasteners, and accessories such as doors, windows, vents, and insulation.
• Build complete bid packages including pricing, scope of supply, and clear clarifications and exclusions.
• Apply sound engineering or QS judgment to interpret drawings and catch scope gaps early.
• Coordinate with the US-based estimating team and suppliers to confirm current pricing and lead times.
• Maintain organised estimate files, takeoff records, and contribute to an internal pricing database.
• Turn estimates around within agreed deadlines and revise promptly as scope changes.
• Communicate clearly with the US team during overlapping business hours.
Qualifications and Experience
Option B — Mechanical or Structural Engineer (Estimating Focus)
• Engineering degree with 1–2+ years in an estimating, costing, or pre-construction role
• Strong understanding of building systems, materials, and structural components
• Able to interpret loads, spans, and frame layouts to assess scope accurately
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil/Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in building estimation, quantity surveying, or construction cost management.
• Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and structural construction documents.
• Proficiency with takeoff or estimating tools (e.g. Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift, CostX, or equivalent) and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Clear written and spoken English — you will communicate directly with US-based colleagues and clients.
• Willingness and ability to work US Central Time hours (approximately 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM Zimbabwe time).
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience estimating roofing, metal buildings, or light steel frame construction.
• Familiarity with US construction standards and codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, or MBMA) — training can be provided.
• Background in structural steel detailing, fabrication support, or shop drawing review.

You will be part of the SavannahPro team with direct management support, while delivering work for our US roofing client.
Working hours align with US Central Time business hours, which translates to approximately 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM Zimbabwe time. Candidates must be comfortable with and committed to this schedule.
