Summary of key functions
Responsible for delivery of high quality HIV laboratory services at NMRL. The incumbent will be responsible for timeous processing of EID/Viral Load samples at the reference laboratory as well as ensuring all quality indicators are within limit.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities and Accountability
• Laboratory system strengthening to ensure HIV tests are being done as per program targets.
• Monitors total TAT to ensure samples and results are moving smoothly between the laboratory and requesting facility.
• Reports on daily, weekly and monthly statistics
• Implements QMS in the respective departments.
• Maintains HIV testing platforms
• Stock management of EID and Viral load commodities
• Compiles monthly HIV laboratory performance reports and essential performance indicators
• Evaluates new technologies in HIV testing
• Participates in programmes and surveys coordinated at the NMRL
• Carries-out support and supervisory visits to provincial and district laboratories.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and competencies
• HBMLS or Equivalent from a reputable University
• At least 3 years post graduate experience
• Experience with HIV PCR diagnostic and monitoring tests is an added advantage
• Ability to interface with clinical facilities to troubleshoot and institute corrective actions for out of range indicators.
• Computer competence with spreadsheet, word processing and presentation applications
• Must be registered with Medical Laboratory Clinical Scientist Council of Zimbabwe
