The Program / Department / Team
Mercy Corps has been operating in Zimbabwe since 2002 focusing its interventions on a multi-sectoral market systems development portfolio mobilizing communities to promote small-scale agriculture and revive local economies. MC Zimbabwe seeks to support at-risk communities in Zimbabwe to move towards sustainable development through building resilience and strong inclusive systems in the face of climatic and economic shocks and stresses.

General Position Summary
Mercy Corps Zimbabwe will implement a one (1) year USAID Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA)-funded ELEVATE program to respond to households experiencing acute food insecurity by providing life-saving food assistance and support agricultural interventions to improve resilience of vulnerable households in targeted underserved pockets of rural communities.

Responsible for maintaining all program databases, developing data collection forms, and conducting analysis of data collected at the field level.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Job Responsibilities

Technical Management
● Develop MEL Plan(s) for the Program.
● Develop a system for reporting and validating program data (Excel, TolaData, Access, etc.)
● Work closely with the program team and local partners to ensure effective monitoring, evaluation,
learning and reporting of program activities and results.
● Coordinate reporting with local partners, specifically tracking deadlines, ensuring adherence to
monitoring formats and requirements, ensuring reporting quality and accuracy, and periodic report
writing, editing, and submission.
● Compile reports on progress against indicators according to the monitoring plan and facilitate
program performance review with program team members.
● Develop a Data Quality Assessment Plan.
● Perform regular data quality spot checks on program data.
● Actively participate in any additional evaluation activities including but not limited to baseline,, mid-
term, end line surveys, , household surveys.

Program Management
● Contribute to the program Learning/Research agenda.
● Build the capacity of all relevant team members to use program monitoring tools, accurately enter
program data into relevant databases, and enable them to develop excellent reports and other
documents.
● Build the capacity of our local partner organizations through on-going training and support on
monitoring tools, entering program data into databases, the development of reports and other
documents.
● Document lessons learned and success stories.
● Ensure adherence to program management minimum standards, while advising and supporting
other staff on the same as required.

Qualifications and Experience

Knowledge and Experience

● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in International Development, Operations Research,
Statistics.
● 2-4 years M&E experience. Previous experience on USAID/BHA funded programs preferred.
● Relevant experience in field survey/data collection techniques, data entry, data verification, and
analysis.
● Good data management skills .
● Strong computer literacy with a full knowledge of MS Office applications.
● Strong team coordination, listening, and consensus building skills.
