• Location: Harare, Zimbabwe

About Us
As a leading food packaging material supplier, our business moves fast to keep our clients stocked and moving. We are seeking a high-energy, proactive Procurement/Purchasing Assistant who can hit the ground running on Day 1. We need a sharp self-starter who takes ownership of their desk, anticipates supply chain bottlenecks before they happen, and drives efficiency.
If you thrive under pressure, love solving logistical puzzles, and are ready to manage a vital part of our operations, this desk is yours.
Key Responsibilities
• Order & Shipment Ownership: Independently manage the end-to-end purchase order (PO) process. Proactively track shipments, oversee complex shipping schedules, and maintain flawless purchase records.
• Supplier Relations & Negotiation: Build and maintain strong vendor relationships. Monitor supplier performance against KPIs, address service failures head-on, and actively assist in renegotiating contracts to boost profitability.
• Sourcing & Cost Optimization: Conduct strategic supplier searches to identify cost-saving opportunities, reduce operational expenses, and enhance supply chain efficiency.
• Inventory & Warehouse Collaboration: Manage stock inventory levels to prevent stock- outs or over-ordering. Partner closely with warehouse staff to audit deliveries against POs and rapidly resolve any discrepancies.
• Departmental Synergy: Act as a reliable right hand to the Purchasing Manager, proactively identifying areas for process improvement within the department.
Requirements & Skill Set
• Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of proven experience in a fast-paced procurement or purchasing position (experience in manufacturing, packaging, or FMCG is a major plus).
• Education: Diploma in Purchasing and Supply, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Software Proficiency: Hands-on proficiency in Sage Pastel Software and the Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) is strictly required.
• Core Competencies: Deep, practical knowledge of purchasing functions, inventory control, and supply management systems.
• The "Self-Starter" Factor: Proven ability to work with minimal supervision. You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess the grit to handle tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
• Communication & Hustle: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. You know how to be firm but professional with vendors to get results.
• Bonus Points: Knowledge of logistics, freight administration, and basic accounting principles.
If you have the hustle and experience we are looking for, please send your CV (including 2 professional references with active contact details) and your Application Letter to: recruitmentsprivate@gmail.com
