Job Description

The hospital is the newest Centre in the CURE network, opening its doors in April 2021 and specialising in the care of children living with physical disabilities. The CURE Children’s Hospital of Zimbabwe is the first hospital in Zimbabwe that is dedicated to serve vulnerable children and families through the provision of Orthopaedic and Spiritual Care.
JOB SUMMARY
Overall responsible for efficiently carrying out assigned duties, carrying out Dr’s instructions supervision of juniors, evaluating patient care and environmental cleanliness.

Duties and Responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
▪ Providing total individualized and comprehensive nursing care to patients according to
▪ nursing and Doctors plans.
▪ Performing nursing procedures and treatment of patients in a competent and professional
▪ manner according to set standards.
▪ Plans and implements the Nursing initial and continuous assessments for patients applying
▪ the holistic approach using the nursing process.
▪ Implement and observe IPC and safe care standards ensuring a clean therapeutic
▪ environment.
▪ Acts as a professional role model at all times upholding the standards and Ethics of the
▪ profession.
▪ Promoting good Team spirit good interpersonal, interdepartmental relationships and
▪ personnel cooperation.
▪ Upholding and adhering to the professional Standards and Bulawayo Surgical Hospital’s
▪ stipulated rules, regulations, policies, procedures and Mission Statement.
▪ Prepare nursing care plans for the patients placed under your care.
▪ Implements laid down policies and follows procedure Manuals and SOPs
▪ Provides treatment and administers medicines to patients and documents accurately
▪ Monitors patients’ vital signs and records accurately on patients charts e.g., compiling intake and output and fluid balance charts.

Qualifications and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
▪ Diploma in Nursing
▪ Current practicing license.
▪ Experience in working in a Paediatric Surgical Ward unit post training an added advantage
▪ Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
▪ Excellent verbal and written communication
▪ Organised and able to meet deadlines.
