Job Description
Bulawayo Mining Company (Private) Limited (How Mine) is currently looking for a suitably qualified, energetic, self-driven, independent and self-motivated individual who has excellent communication skills to fill the position of Safety Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Position
The primary purpose of the role is to promote and enforce safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) standards by carrying out risk assessments, incident investigations, audits (ISO 45001/14001/9001), environmental and hygiene monitoring, emergency drills, training and SHE reporting; support ESG initiatives and stakeholder engagement, to ensure a safe, healthy, environmentally responsible and legally compliant mining operation.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications & Requirements
• A Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent relevant qualification (or a combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates competency to perform required duties)
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a mining SHEQ role
• Full Blasting Licence (a distinct advantage)
• Internal auditor training in ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001
• Valid First Aid Certificate
• Strong communication, interpersonal and report writing skills
• Ability to work independently and make sound safety recommendations
