Job Description

Help launch and grow M&J Africa in Malawi by finding customers, understanding their needs and converting opportunities into paying clients. This role is for a determined, practical person who takes ownership of results. No formal academic qualification is required.
Prospecting and opportunity development
•Find potential customers through research, calls, visits, referrals, networking and appropriate digital channels.
•Build a targeted prospect list and generate business actively rather than relying only on incoming enquiries.
•Approach decision-makers, introduce M&J Africa and secure meaningful sales conversations.
•Qualify customer needs, decision-makers, budget, timing and purchasing processes.
•Identify suitable opportunities for the company's software, accounting and business services.
Sales conversations and proposals
•Ask clear questions, listen carefully and recommend solutions that match the customer's needs.
•Explain the value and practical benefits of services accurately; arrange presentations and demonstrations with technical colleagues where needed.
•Prepare quotations and proposals using approved pricing and terms.
•Handle objections professionally and negotiate within authorised limits. Do not promise unapproved functionality, delivery dates, discounts or outcomes.
Follow-up and closing
•Follow up consistently, agree clear next steps and keep opportunities moving towards a decision.
•Identify and address obstacles to buying; ask for the sale and secure the required acceptance, order or agreement.
•Coordinate invoicing and follow up agreed customer payments with the accounts team.
•Hand over confirmed sales clearly, recording customer requirements, scope and commitments.
•Maintain relationships, ask for referrals and identify repeat business and appropriate cross-selling opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities

CRM discipline, reporting and teamwork
•Record leads, contacts, calls, visits, meeting notes, proposals and follow-up dates in the company's CRM.
•Keep deal stages, values and expected close dates accurate. Every active opportunity must have a clear next action.
•Provide honest pipeline updates, realistic forecasts and reports on activity, results and lost opportunities.
•Share customer feedback and competitor insights, attend sales and product training, and apply coaching.
•Support practical launch activities that help build the Malawi customer base.

Qualifications and Experience

•No formal academic qualification is required.
•Strong willingness to prospect, follow up, negotiate and close sales.
•Confidence approaching new people and communicating with business decision-makers.
•Persistence, resilience and the ability to handle rejection without losing focus.
•Initiative, problem-solving, disciplined follow-through and ownership of results.
•Ability to use a CRM and basic digital tools, or the willingness and ability to learn quickly.
•Good organisation, time management and record-keeping; willingness to learn the company's products.
•Honesty, professionalism and respect for customers and colleagues. Sales, customer service or business development experience is an advantage, not a requirement.
