The incumbent shall be responsible for the overall management of stores and inventory operations, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, control, and distribution of construction materials, equipment, tools, and consumables required for construction and development projects. The role is critical in maintaining inventory accuracy, minimizing stock losses, ensuring timely availability of materials, and supporting project delivery through effective stores management. The incumbent will also be responsible for supervising stores personnel and ensuring compliance with company policies, safety standards, and inventory control procedures. To perform any other duties as assigned by superiors.
Manage the receipt, storage, issuance, and documentation of construction materials, equipment, and supplies.
Manage plant, tools and equipment registers.
Monitor and control fuel, PPE and consumables stock
Ensure all materials issued are supported by approved Material Requisitions.
Maintain optimum inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted project operations while minimizing excess stock and carrying costs.
Coordinate inter-site stock transfers.
Manage slow moving, obsolete and surplus stock.
Verify supplier deliveries against Purchase Orders and Delivery Notes.
Develop and implement effective inventory control systems and procedures.
Conduct regular stock counts, reconciliations, and audits to ensure inventory accuracy and accountability.
Monitor stock movement and prepare periodic inventory reports for management review.
Coordinate with Procurement, Finance, and Project Management teams to ensure timely availability of materials for ongoing projects.
Supervise and provide leadership to stores personnel, ensuring efficient execution of daily stores activities.
Monitor material consumption trends and recommend replenishment strategies.
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards within the stores environment.
Investigate inventory variances and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
Manage departmental budgets and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
Maintain accurate records of all inventory transactions using manual and computerized inventory management systems.
Assist with monthly reporting and inventory valuation.
Support internal and external audits.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Management.
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing and Supply, Business Management, or a related field.
Professional qualification in Stores Management, Inventory Management, or Procurement will be an added advantage.
A minimum of five (5) years' relevant experience in stores or inventory management, preferably within the construction, engineering, or manufacturing sector.
Experience using computerized inventory management systems or ERP software (e.g. Odoo, Sage, Pastel or similar) will be an added advantage.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and inventory management software.
Valid Class 4 (Code B) Driver’s License
Strong leadership, supervisory, and team management skills.
Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic project environment.
