Reporting to the Project Management Team, the SHE Officer will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing Safety, Health and Environmental policies at the company's construction project sites. The incumbent will ensure compliance with all applicable safety legislation, industry standards, and company procedures while promoting a proactive safety culture among employees, contractors, and subcontractors. To perform any other duties as assigned by the superior.
Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits at the construction project site.
Identify workplace hazards and undertake risk assessments for construction activities.
Develop and implement safe work procedures and control measures.
Monitor compliance with site safety regulations, permit-to-work systems, and PPE requirements.
Ensure proper housekeeping and safe working practices throughout the project site.
Coordinate toolbox talks, safety briefings, and induction programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
Promote a strong safety culture through awareness campaigns and employee engagement initiatives.
Monitor environmental compliance on the project site.
Ensure proper waste management, pollution prevention, dust control, noise management, and environmental protection measures are implemented.
Conduct environmental impact monitoring and recommend mitigation measures where necessary.
Promote sustainable construction practices throughout project operations.
Ensure compliance with all applicable Zimbabwean safety, health, labour, environmental, and construction regulations.
Liaise with regulatory authorities including NSSA, EMA, local authorities, and other relevant stakeholders.
Maintain statutory records and ensure all legal requirements are fulfilled.
Assist management during inspections and audits by regulatory bodies.
Maintain SHE records, registers, policies, procedures, and project documentation.
Prepare weekly and monthly SHE reports for management.
Monitor safety performance indicators and recommend improvements.
Ensure the project site maintains current safety files and statutory documentation.
Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Natural Sciences, Environmental Science, or related field.
Certificate/Diploma in Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Management (OSHEMAC)
Fire Fighting course.
First Aid Certificate will be an added advantage.
Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in the construction industry, preferably on large-scale building, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects.
Sound knowledge of Zimbabwean occupational safety, environmental, and labour legislation.
Experience managing SHE compliance on construction sites.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Valid Class 4 Driver's Licence will be an added advantage.
Effective communication skills.
