Job Description

We are one of the leading FMCG companies in Zimbabwe looking to fill in the position of a Store Buyer. The role entails developing dependable supply sources and purchase all materials to the store’s exact business requirements, using the company’s deals where specified, at competitive rates, within budget, and ensuring deliveries are done within specified timelines to avoid stock-outs. Also ensures that all company’s purchasing specifications, policies, and procedures adhere at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Result Areas:
• Accountable for all stocks at the store - including raw material delivered, stocks in the warehouse/storage facility, stocks in the production line for service departments, stocks in the floor (merchandising), and stocks that are sold to customers.
• Analyse customer buying patterns, understand seasonal trends, predict future trends and use scientific ordering, ensuring zero stock-outs at all times.
• Take a lead role in ensuring that:
(a) Line pricing is adhered to on the same pricing SKU’s;
(b) Targeted contributions levels of house brands are achieved and that house brands obtain a share of prime shelf space;
(c) Maximum compliance on promotional and marketing campaign execution is maintained for the entire duration of the promotional or marketing campaign period.
• Regularly engage with customers and obtain feedback & customer expectations on the product range, product mix, and quality.
• Ensure quality and performance of goods purchased are in line with required standards
• Engage with the various departments to identify the key procurement priorities and ensure that resources are assigned accordingly
• Manage the engagement of procurement consultancy where specialist services are required
• Assess the quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
• Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels and stock integrity is maintained throughout the store at all times.
• Supervising and training junior members of staff when required.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate must have:

• Degree in Purchasing and Supply, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or any relevant commercial degree or equivalent.
• Diploma or Member of CIPS
• Strong organizational, negotiation, analytical, and prioritization skills
• Experience in and natural ability to set standards, protocols, and operating procedures
• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced and often-changing environment.
