About
Zvitambo is a multidisciplinary public health research institute whose mission is to improve maternal and child health in Zimbabwe and to apply its findings to improve health globally. Zvitambo conducts research and provides technical support and education to reduce the burden of malnutrition and infectious diseases. Zvitambo is looking for an energized and committed Stores Clerk to manage our electronic stock system which covers a large number of research studies in two sites – Harare and Shurugwi. A large number of our studies require medical and laboratory supplies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Position summary
The primary role of the Stores Clerk is to oversee the electronic stock management system at Zvitambo. They will work closely with the IT team to improve its remit and functionality. They will also work closely with the logistics team who procure the stock. The Stores Clerk will be responsible for revising SOPs and policies related to quality stock control. The Stores Clerk will ensure that all members of Zvitambo who engage with stock are trained in the stock procedures. They will be responsible for all activities related to stores including receipt of goods, coordination and documentation of stock. They will be responsible for preparing to receive all incoming supplies and plan the flow of supplies such that dispatches are prioritized to avoid overcrowding our storage facilities. The Stores Clerk will be responsible for monitoring all stock; ensuring there are no stock outs, and providing regular reports to the Directorate and Study Leads.
Qualifications and Experience

The candidate must have 3-5 years’ experience as a stock clerk, with current experience working with an electronic system (preferably 2 years’ experience); The candidate should have a certificate or degree in stock management, and show high proficiency in maths and other analytical skills; They must have practical experience working with spreadsheet forms and word processing programmes; They must have excellent organizational skills, be a strong team player, and be able to work to strict deadlines; They must have excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Shona; The candidate should be physically strong and have traceable references; It is preferable if the candidate worked in organizations dealing with medical and / or laboratory stock; A clean class 4 drivers licence is also desirable.
