Job Description


The Stores Manager shall be responsible for the following:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Complying with local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by constantly studying existing and new legislation.
• Enforcing adherence to storage requirements and advising management on needed actions.
• Safeguarding warehouse operations and contents by establishing and ensuring security procedures and protocols for inventory stock.
• Controlling inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data. storage systems and ensuring balance of stocks.
• Maintaining physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing feasible stock layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
• Preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions for any gaps identified.
• Ensuring delivery plans and forecasts are met, including the tracking of key KPIs relating to stock management, loading/off-loading efficiency, health, safety and environment, stock management.
• Performing month end preparation tasks: ensuring all information has been captured in the Sage system, performing and documenting physical stock verifications, and any other requirements as prescribed by the accounting department in the month-end process.
• Ensuring Zero variance between physical and ERP stock
• Ensuring Daily, Weekly and Monthly physical stock reconciliations, receipts and variances are tracked, prepared and communicated.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications:

• Degree/Diploma in Supply Chain/Logistics Management/CIPS/CILT or any relevant qualification
• At least 5 years' experience at Stores managerial level in similar manufacturing, mining or heavy industry.

Technical skills

• Knowledge of warehouse planning and managerial techniques
• Good understanding of Stores operations in a multi-modal set- up including scheduling.
• Good analytical skills with ability to use various ERP's, Microsoft excel, simulation suites
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety
