VICE CAPTAIN
Department: Mining Operations
Location: Sabi Gold Mine - Zvishavane
Reports To: Mining Manager
JOB SUMMARY
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced mining professionals to join Sabi Gold Mine as Mine Captain.
The incumbent will be responsible for supervising underground and/or open-pit mining activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and productive mining operations in line with company standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise daily mining operations and production teams.
* Ensure compliance with SHEQ standards and statutory mining regulations.
* Monitor production targets, equipment utilisation, and crew performance.
* Coordinate drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and ground control activities.
* Conduct workplace inspections and promote a strong safety culture.
* Prepare shift reports and provide operational updates to management.
Qualifications and Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Degree in Mining Engineering.
* Valid full Blasting Licence.
* Valid first aid certificate.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
* Minimum of 5 years' mining experience.
At least 2 years in a supervisory mining role.
* At least 2 years of experience in both surface and underground mining will be an added advantage.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
* Strong leadership and people management skills.
* Sound knowledge of mining methods and safety regulations.
* Ability to work under pressure in a mine-site environment.
* Good communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
