Job Description
The Workshop Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating artisans and assistants in the maintenance of buses and trucks, ensuring reliable fleet availability through routine, preventive, and planned maintenance. The role includes overseeing equipment disassembly and assembly in line with technical manuals and procedures, enforcing safety, quality, and SOP standards, performing basic auto-electrical troubleshooting when required, and carrying out any other assigned duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
-Coordinates and performs repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls on major assemblies on trucks and buses like Volvo, UD, Dongfeng, Eicher, Higer
-Coordinate and supervise artisans and assistants consistently in carrying out routine, preventative and planned buses and trucks maintenance checks/activities for the fleet at hand enforcing 100% compliance to SOPs.
-Delegates tasks to artisans and assistants and makes consistent follow ups for all reported buses and trucks breakdowns immediately as they happen and ensure tasks are completed with “zero re-dos” within allocated time enforcing safety standards.
-Allocates tasks to artisans and assistants as per daily work orders and do quality control checks on completed task and monitor that work is completed within specified time frames with “zero re-dos”.
-Completes work order documentation after every performed task(s) the same day of occurrence.
-Expedites orders (vehicle components).
-Carries out and completes performance appraisals for all subordinates quarterly.
-Ensures good housekeeping of work areas all times
Qualifications and Experience
• NC in Motor Vehicle Mechanics,
• Apprentice Trained Journeyman Motor/Diesel Mechanic with 10 years experience working with buses and trucks of which 4 years should been on supervisory role,
• Ability to read and interpret user manuals correctly,
• A team player with good communication skills,
• Highly knowledgeable in today’s automotive technology to include, computer systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, steering systems, & drive trains for heavy construction, heavy trucks and automotive equipment like Volvo, UD, Dongfeng, Eicher and Higer.
