Job Description
The successful applicant will report to the Agronomist and will among other duties be responsible for the following:
Duties and Responsibilities
• Conduct pre and post flight inspections to ensure drones, generators, batteries, and related accessories remain airworthy, clean, and operational.
• Perform drone calibration prior to operations to maintain accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Monitor battery health, charging cycles, equipment performance, and overall operational readiness before deployment.
• Review field prescriptions, operational plans, and weather conditions prior to commencing operations.
• Operate, spraying, spreading, and mapping drones safely and efficiently in line with operational and agronomic requirements.
• Ensure correct spray rates, swath width, and flight parameters during field operations.
• Adhere to all Aviation regulations, estate safety procedures, and operational guidelines, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintaining safe operating distances from hazards and obstacles.
• Suspend operations immediately during unsafe or adverse weather conditions.
• Report faults, damages, incidents, and maintenance requirements promptly to the relevant authority.
• Maintain accurate operational records, including flight hours, battery usage, hectares sprayed, chemical consumption, operational incidents, logbooks, master logs, risk assessment forms, and change of serviceability records.
Qualifications and Experience
• Should be CAZ certified.
• Valid Class 4 Medical certificate.
• At least 5 O-level passes, including English Language.
• Recognized flight training certificate.
• Basic understanding of crop spraying, spreading, and mapping.
• At least 1–2 years of practical drone flying especially in Agricultural setout.
