Chikukwa Ecological Land Use Organisation (CELUO) is seeking an experienced, strategic, and values-driven Executive Director to lead the organisation in strengthening community-centred development, organisational sustainability, and institutional effectiveness in Zimbabwe.
About CELUO
CELUO is a community-based organisation working in the Districts of Chimanimani and Chipinge in Manicaland Province. The organisation promotes sustainable livelihoods, agroecology, child protection, community cohesion, and participatory community development through people-centred approaches.
Role Summary
Reporting to the CELUO Executive Committee, the Executive Director will provide overall strategic, programmatic, financial, and operational leadership to the organisation. The Director will oversee organisational systems strengthening, programme implementation, staff leadership, stakeholder engagement, fundraising, compliance, and institutional sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and overall management of CELUO in line with its mission and Strategic Plan 2026–2030.
Strengthen organisational systems, accountability, PMEL, compliance, and institutional performance.
Guide programme implementation, organisational learning, monitoring, documentation, and reporting processes.
Lead, supervise, and support staff performance management, capacity strengthening, and professional development.
Ensure sound financial oversight, donor compliance, budgeting, and reporting.
Lead fundraising, partnership development, and donor engagement efforts.
Represent CELUO in engagements with communities, government authorities, traditional leadership, donors, networks, and development partners.
Promote professionalism, transparency, teamwork, and organisational resilience.
Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Environmental Science, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
At least 5 years of senior leadership or management experience within an NGO, civil society, or development organisation.
Demonstrated experience in programme management, strategic planning, fundraising, financial oversight, and organisational leadership.
Experience strengthening organisational systems, staff performance management, and institutional accountability.
Strong communication, networking, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience working with communities, local government, donors, and development partners.
