Job Description

We are looking for disciplined, ambitious, and hardworking matual individuals who can be a leader.To provide strong academic, administrative and strategic leadership for the primary school while remaining actively involved in teaching. The Headmaster / Teaching Principal is responsible for implementing the Cambridge Primary curriculum, leading and supp orting staff, strengthening learner performance, overseeing school administration and budgets, driving enrolment and retention, and guiding the school toward successful Ministry of Primary & Secondary Education and Cambridge registration and ongoing compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Academic Leadership and Cambridge Curriculum
• Lead the implementation of the Cambridge Primary curriculum framework across Stages 1–6
and ensure teaching plans, schemes of work, assessments and classroom delivery are aligned
to the required standards.
• Promote the learner-centred teaching approach expected within the Cambridge pathway and
ensure teaching practice remains focused on active learning, understanding and learner
progress.
• Monitor curriculum coverage, teaching quality, assessment standards and learner outcomes
and take corrective action were performance falls below expectations.
• Keep the school informed of relevant developments in international education and Cambridge
Primary requirements.
2. Teaching and Learner Performance
• Maintain an active teaching role appropriate to the needs of the school while providing wholeschool leadership.
• Set clear academic expectations for learners and teachers and monitor learner progress using
classwork, assessments and other available academic evidence.
• Identify learners requiring additional academic support and coordinate practical interventions
with teachers and parents.
• Ensure a disciplined, supportive and learner-focused academic environment is maintained
across the school.
3. Staff Leadership and Performance Management
• Provide day-to-day leadership to teaching and school staff, with clear responsibilities,
reporting lines and performance expectations.
• Coordinate staff deployment, work allocation, meetings, supervision and follow-up of agreed
actions.
• Observe and review teaching performance, provide constructive feedback and identify
development or training needs.
• Support recruitment, induction and retention of suitable teachers and staff as the school
grows.
• Promote professionalism, punctuality, accountability and consistent application of school
standards.
4. School Administration and Budget Oversight
• Oversee the school’s day-to-day administration and ensure academic and operational recordsare complete, organised and available when required.
• Participate in preparation and monitoring of the school budget, ensuring resources are
directed toward agreed academic and operational priorities.
• Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and escalate significant variances or funding
requirements to School Management.
• Ensure school timetables, calendars, academic records, staff records and key administrative
schedules are properly maintained.
5. Admissions, Enrolment and Learner Retention
• Actively support the school’s enrolment growth by engaging prospective parents, explaining
the school’s academic offering and assisting with conversion of suitable enquiries into paying
learners.
• Ensure new learners and parents receive a professional onboarding experience and
understand the school’s expectations and academic programme.
• Monitor learner retention and work with staff and parents to address academic, service or
communication issues that could result in learner withdrawals.
• Maintain accurate enrolment and retention information for management review.
6. Regulatory Registration and Compliance
• Lead and coordinate the school’s preparation for successful registration with the Ministry of
Primary & Secondary Education, working with School Management and relevant stakeholders.
• Lead the preparation for Cambridge registration and ensure the school meets the academic,
administrative and operational requirements communicated during the registration process.
• Once registered, maintain ongoing Cambridge compliance and ensure required school
practices, documentation and standards continue to be observed.
• Maintain clear records of compliance requirements, outstanding actions, inspection matters
and registration milestones and report progress to School Management.
7. Parent and School Community Relations
• Maintain professional and constructive communication with parents on learner progress,
school expectations and material academic matters.
• Ensure parent concerns are handled promptly, fairly and through the appropriate school
process.
• Build confidence in the school by communicating its educational approach, Cambridge
pathway and learner-development priorities clearly and professionally.
• Represent the school appropriately in meetings and engagements connected to academic
leadership and school development.
8. Strategic Development and School Growth
• Work with School Management to develop and implement practical plans for academic
improvement, enrolment growth and long-term school development.
• Use learner results, enrolment trends, staff performance and operational information to
identify priorities and recommend improvements.
• Help establish a strong school culture and educational identity that supports sustainable
growth and parent confidence.
• Prepare regular Headmaster reports covering academic performance, staff matters,
enrolment, compliance progress, key challenges and required management decisions
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
• Effective implementation and monitoring of the Cambridge Primary curriculum across Stages
1–6.
• Improvement and consistency in learner academic performance and assessment outcomes.
• Quality of classroom teaching, teacher supervision and staff performance follow-up.
• Growth in paying learner enrolment and retention of enrolled learners.
• Progress toward and successful completion of Ministry of Primary & Secondary Education
registration requirements.
• Progress toward Cambridge registration and maintenance of Cambridge compliance after
registration.
• Accuracy and timeliness of school administration, academic records and management
reporting.
• Effective budget oversight and responsible use of school resources.
• Timely resolution of significant parent, learner and staff matters.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor of Education; or a Bachelor’s degree together with a Post Graduate Certificate in
Education (PGCE).
• A Master’s degree in Educational Leadership is an advantage.
• At least five years of elementary / primary teaching experience.
• Proven senior leadership experience within a school environment.
• In-depth knowledge of the Cambridge Primary curriculum frameworks for Stages 1–6.
• Proven experience in school administration, staff management, budget oversight and strategic
development
